There are five different types of pacific salmon the Chinook, Coho, Chum, Pink, and Sockeye. They all very in size and behavior patterns. Salmon provide food/nutrients for for many animals such as Bears, Big White Fish, Eagles, Fenno, Hansen, Hidden Lake, Little White Fish and Pich. Having an extinction our an decrease in population in salmon is going to effect all the animals who depend on them for food. Especially the bears since they depend on salmon the most for nutrients bears catch the most salmon during migrating season. When the salmon have to swim up stream coming back from the ocean. When bears catch salmon the only eat about 25% of it and leave the rest behind. Which means the rest of the salmon is food for plants and and scavenger animals which really depend on this. Salmon provide nutrients not only to bears, but especially the forest in that particular area. During hibernation, bears need to keep body temperature to keep warm and also need nutrients to help store energy for after the winter is over. During this time, female bears usually give birth to their offspring and nourish their young. Bears often fight for salmon in trying to steal another's prey
