The giant panda is located on the mountains of western china living inside the bamboo forests. They can vary from a size of 150cm to 165 cm. They only reproduce one offspring every two years, but twins are common where pandas are held in captivity due to artificial breeding. In 2004, pandas came in numbers ranging from 1000 - 1100 left, but now there estimated to have 1,600 left in the wild to this day. The major reason they are endangered is due to habitat loss because of conversion of forests to agricultura areas. Other reasons these mammals are endangered is because of poaching, bamboo harvesting, and mining.
