Summary
We are filling out atmosphere with to much Carbon dioxide. An as a result our planet is warming at a phenomenal rate. The warming in our planet is causing heat waves and floods to be more extreme/hectic. Ever since we started burning fossil fuel the ocean has absorbed more than half of all the Carbon Dioxide we put out. This is good and bad good because its kept a lot of Carbon Dioxide out of our atmosphere. Bad because the more Carbon Dioxide the ocean takes it becomes warmer and warmer an warm water can't take up Carbon Dioxide. With all this Carbon Dioxide in the water ocean creatures such as clams, oysters, and coral have there shells and skeletons become weaker. Those creatures need carbonic ions because it the building block of there shell but when Carbon Dioxide mixes with sea water it creates Carbonic Acid which releases Hydrogen ions in water which compete with the creatures for Carbonic ions. An with all these Hydrogen ions the ocean creatures spend more time searching for Carbonic ions and less time for food. Which means there size decreases and population decrease as well which effects there entire ecosystem food chain. Another thing with all this Hydrogen ions they make our planets ocean more acidic and our planet has became 30% more acidic since we started putting Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere. The earths creatures are able to adapt and will adapt to the change because they always have but with everything change so fast it doesn't give them enough time to adapt to the change.
